Romans 5:2 states that it is through Jesus that we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand. Grace is a term that we use often but sometimes have a difficult time defining. When I think of grace I think of generosity. Imagine you are driving and you look in your rear view mirror to discover that there is a beat up pickup truck hanging on your tail. He is flashing his lights at you and making rude gestures. Finally a straight stretch comes where he can pass you and he blows by all the while honking his horn and shaking his fist down at you. A short while later as you go up the road you see flashing lights and discover that the trooper has pulled the truck over. You pull off in front of the truck and walk up to talk to the officer and explain that you would like to pay his ticket for him. You then turn to the driver and tell him that you would like to buy him dinner at the cafe up the road. And by the way it looks like he needs a new truck as well, so you will be taking care of that for him also. That is generosity. That is grace. That is what we stand in because of Jesus.
